Nearly showtime

Well I'm trying to focus on getting things done for the Toronto Outdoor Art Show, which starts in just over a week, and finding that my hands don't keep up with my head. I'm making a bunch of new embroidered butterflies, and have also been looking at my stash of leftover bits and trying to use some of them up in little projects, so there's a couple of new things coming in that area also. Lastly, I'm going to work on some evening bags/clutches, even if I run out of time before this show.

Weaver Sandra Brownlee in Toronto

Last night I attended an artist talk at the Textile Museum, with weaver Sandra Brownlee. Her woven pieces are mostly black and white, pictorial, and inspired by various aspects of her life, including her interactions with other people. She also creates fabulous books containing collages, sketches, notes and such.

Muskoka

Over the weekend I was in the Muskoka area of Ontario, which included a drive into Algonquin Provincial Park for a day. This park is huge, and great for lots of wildlife. We saw no fewer than 6 moose! Not to mention a pheasant, some herons, and evidence of beaver activity.

Afternoon walk

At the back end of yesterday afternoon we went for a walk in the local conservation area, Rattray Marsh. We saw a deer, a great blue heron, and a swan on its nest. There was also a baby bunny in our yard earlier on.
