Work in Progress

I am working on new clutches, intending to have them ready for the Studio Tour in a couple of weeks.  I listed one on Etsy the other day, rainbow stripes on a white background.  It seemed to make sense to have a rainbow on white one, as I'd already made some rainbow on black.

I am also re-working the scarves, I think they work better opened up, rather than sewn in the round as 'tubes'.

Lastly, I have been using up my accumulated small scraps of silk that I can't use in the clutches/butterflies, i started free-motion stitching them down onto a tear-away stabilizer, intending to use the results as bookmarks and on cards, but I like it so much, I've cut a couple of larger pieces from it, and will be making 'patchwork' clutches from those pieces, and using the rest as originally planned.

Shop updates

In between getting ready for Christmas and so on I've been working toward switching my greetings cards from one Etsy shop to the other, to make things look more cohesive. I've almost completed that process. Looking better, I think. Now one shop will be entirely jewellery, and the cards will be fitted in with my textile and painting work.

Don't forget the Indie Handmade holiday market ends on the 18th!

Second Etsy Shop

Well, in the interest of organizing my work a little more cohesively, and of making use of my Eyespot Designs name, I have created a second Etsy shop.

I've decided to keep my jewellery pieces and greetings cards in the first shop. The second I will be using for my textile work, and paintings. Any textile listings that were in the first shop (all 12 of them, which wasn't so many) have been removed and listed in the new shop. I have listed the first two paintings also! Eek! I found that a little scary, even though I've exhibited them before. I'll be adding some more periodically.

France vs. Mexico

Here I am, having a cup of tea, quietly sewing, the match on to keep me company.  For you, an image from a recent batch of cards I've been making.  I'm also indulging in another hobby of mine this afternoon, postcrossing.

Also happy to add that I've got 12 *hearts* on my etsy shop.  A good start!

Brazil vs. Korea

Today I'm feeling a little unfocused, flopping in between different little projects.  Plenty to work on though - lots of various bags and cards happening.
I'm contemplating methods of promoting work, building a facebook fan page which gives you more visibility than a group, and so on.
I'm also thinking about a few different shows, and it looks as though I might be participating in one in November, which is great; more on that another day though.
Some time soon I will be beginning to work on invitations for two brides-to-be I know.

Thursday Post

I've managed to get a couple of good things done today:

1.  Made a little coin purse, with lining.  I goofed the stitching a little so around the zipper is a little lumpy and the lining isn't an ideal fit.  Still, I learned a couple of things while doing it and it should go better the next time I make one.

2.  A loaf of banana bread!  Another experience, since I had to look up the conversions for using a different type of flour than the recipe called for.

3.  I've been making more cards and including some hand embroidery on them.  The results are pretty cute.

You might also have noticed that I added a labels cloud to the bottom of the blog page the other day.

Moments and Inspirations

After having a totally uninspired day on Monday as far as getting any crafty things done, yesterday showed some potential.  I put together some new cards, picked up a portfolio to put jewellery images into, and spent a while browsing around in Chapters.  Bought a Quilting Arts magazine, which just stuns me - the contents, that is, not the fact that I bought it.

It was this that led to me thinking about small moments that inspire you or make you smile.  A gift that's carefully wrapped in layers of matching paper and ribbon, a butterfly in your garden, the smell of books and coffee...

Can you think of a few things that inspire you?

Etsy!

Well, my Etsy is under way.  You might notice I've added an Etsy box to link to it from the blog.  There's just a few things on there, all cards at the moment, it takes time to photograph and upload all this stuff, and of course the intent is that it's ongoing, so if you like it, it should be worth checking back from time to time.
