More!

I made a few more of these embroideries. The orange and black one is a better photo of the same one I posted yesterday.

Wednesday morning

Here's some images of that new idea I mentioned yesterday -- hand embroidery on a 4"x4" canvas. I've got some more little pattern ideas to make more of these with since this one turned out nicely. I'm going to start with more in this neutral background, and some in a black background.

Today

Above -- a screen shot of my latest Etsy treasury, Winter Latte.

I tried a new idea today, which turned out quite well - I'll take a picture when I can, it's too dark now though.

Also, here's a link to the Facebook event for my aforementioned next show.

Thursday

I just made a necklace a friend had asked for, and since the beads are already out, I've been making some more pieces too. I'll be taking some photos soon. These photos are from when I went for a walk on Sunday, and some of the colours and textures are pretty amazing.

What's an Etsy?

OK so a few weeks ago a friend asked me, 'what's an Etsy?'

In short, Etsy is an e-commerce website, where you can buy and sell handmade art and craft items, supplies for said, and vintage items. There are thousands of Etsy sellers around the world. You do have to sign up/create an account in order to buy or sell. But it's easy and there's no fee to join.

So when I refer (as I often do) to my Etsy shops, that's what I'm talking about.

I will also take a moment to tell you that this one of my Etsy shops is having a sale - Oct. 4-11, save 10% off on jewellery and greetings cards.

Quick Post

It's late and I'm sleepy, but I'm pleased to say that my new butterfly brooches are already in 2 Etsy treasuries!

New stuff

The new stuff I've been working on is here --

Butterfly Brooches!

These are an extension of my framed butterflies series (which I will also be adding to), and I plan to add to the selection from time to time, but I wanted to introduce the first few all at once.

They are available now through my Eyespot Designs on Etsy shop.

Psyche, n. - mind, soul, butterfly.

Butterflies - fragile and short lived, compelled to fly tremendous distances, they undergo repeated transformations throughout their lives. They are reborn through metamorphosis, emerging from the chrysalis a transformed creature, a thing of wonder.

My butterflies are made with threads of silk and free-motion machine embroidery. It takes more than seven steps to make each one.

Much love, time and intensive research goes into making each and every one of my individually handmade butterflies. Each is based on a real butterfly, in colours, markings and size.

What do you think?
