Sunday

I've officially begun my Christmas shopping! Er, ok, technically I had some stocking stuffers before today. Now I'm getting ideas for some friends/family (aside from or in addition to gifting some of my work to certain people). Today it was books. There are some little ones around now, and I tend to gravitate towards books for them, rather than plastic toys which are outgrown so fast at their age. I especially like finding books with beautiful illustrations, and/or stories I remember; like Robert Munsch or Eric Carle stories.

What are your favourites?

  2. One of my very favorite children's book authors is Lois Ehlert. Beautiful paper collage stories.

Funny story about Robert Munsch .... I used to work in a bookstore and someone came to the register with a bunch of Love You Forever paperbacks and asked if we had more. I checked and we didn't so I mentioned that title was not a favorite for me and I thought it creepy, but I did love Munsch's Paper Bag Princess and suggested that instead. The customer then told me he was Munsch's brother. I was mortified that I had called his brother's book "creepy." But, he seemed perfectly fine with it and thanked me for being honest and suggesting another Munsch.
